With such a shortened growing season, both flora and fauna burst forth with energy and vigor to make the most of the warmth and food sources that appear. Young babies are welcomed into the world about this time as the wildflowers carpet the landscape. Elk, bison, moose, mule deer, and pronghorn are just a few of the commonly seen species in the area. Both black bears and grizzlies bring their cubs out of hibernation, and, with a bit of luck, we will capture them foraging and learning the “bear” necessities.

San Diego County is one of the best places in the country to photograph marine wildlife, including nesting Cormorants, Brown Pelicans, Osprey and so much more. With one of the only mainland Harbor Seal and California Sea Lion rookeries in California you will be able to photograph harbor seals giving birth and teaching their new pups how to swim. We will spend time out on a small chartered boat to photograph the Whooping Cranes. We will also spend time photographing the whooping cranes and other Texas wintering birds throughout the day. Jennifer has spent lots of time scouting optimal locations to provide excellent photo opportunities.
Join wildlife photographer Jennifer Leigh Warner as we photograph whooping cranes in the Aransas Wildlife Refuge. We will charter a private boat which will take us closer to these rare birds as they hunt for blue crabs in the shallow waters.
We will also spend time in a private photo blind in order to get up-close portraits of the whooping cranes. Additionally we will travel to some other birding hotspots to look for other wildlife that winters along the Texas Gulf Coast.
We will be taking a private charter to a special reserve that is host to Giza the most famous cat and black leopard. We continue to hope she will flourish, but this is nature, and anything can happen to her between now and then. However, the regular spotty leopard sightings are excellent. This conservancy is also ultra-exclusive with only one small main camp and even smaller sister camp. It is also located in the North, so it has all the exotic species of the north such as the grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, oryx, gerenuk, vulturine guine fowl, and wild dogs.

Winter in Minnesota provides a unique opportunity to photograph owls and other birds that live in this winter wonderland.
We will spend 3 full days exploring the famous Sax-Zim Bog looking for owls including the Great Grey Owl, the Snowy Owl and the Northern Hawk Owl. We will also look for other boreal specialties like Black-backed and American Three-toed Woodpeckers, Boreal Chickadee, Canada Jay, and Northern Shrike. We’ll visit local feeders to look for rare Hoary Redpolls mixed into swirling flocks of Common Redpolls. Pine Grosbeaks, Evening Grosbeaks, Red-breasted Nuthatches, Pine Siskin, and Purple Finches also frequently visit feeders and can also be found foraging in conifers and birches throughout the region. We will also check berry-laden bushes for flocks of hungry Bohemian Waxwings.

Late Springtime in the Greater Yellowstone Area is the best time and place to photograph wild bears in the Lower 48. Fresh out of hibernation bears are busy digging up roots and seeking out newly born elk calves. Oftentimes cubs are seen with sow bears and photographing them in the Arrowleaf balsamroot,a bright yellow wildflower, is a treat. Because bears are the main focus of this tour we will often sit and wait for the bears to move into the right location for exceptional photographs.

This is the time of year that bears emerge from hibernation (often with cubs!), elk begin migrating to higher elevations, and moose and bison graze in the valleys.
As the snow melts, the landscape bursts into life with colorful wildflowers carpeting the meadows and hillsides. Lupine, Indian paintbrush, and glacier lilies add splashes of color to the scenery.

Cuba is well-known for its amazing landscapes, vibrant culture and unique biodiversity. Birding in Cuba is extraordinary. According to the new Endemic Birds of Cuba: A Comprehensive Field Guide, 371 birds have been recorded in Cuba, including 26 which are endemic to the island and 30 which are considered globally threatened. Due to its large land area and geographical position within the Caribbean, Cuba is also extraordinarily important for Neotropical migratory birds—more than 180 species pass through during migration or spend the winter on the island.
Our itinerary takes you to several of the best and most beautiful bird photography locations in Cuba, providing opportunities to see many of Cuba’s endemic species and subspecies as well as many migrants. Whooping Cranes are North America’s largest bird and they remain endangered with fewer than an estimated 600 birds remaining in the wild. Whooping Cranes spend the winter on the Texas coast at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. This regional event presents a unique opportunity to get up to close to the birds via boat as well as photographing other Texas coastal birds like roseate spoonbills, brown pelicans, and more.
Fall is an amazing time to be in South Texas. As the weather begins to cool down the wildlife activity starts to heat up. With many of North America’s birds heading south for the winter we will spend a full day photographing these small birds, like green jays, northern cardinals and Pyrrhuloxia and many more. About This Webinar
Every year from mid/late February to mid-April, one million Sandhill Cranes migrate on the Platte River Valley in order to ‘fuel up’ before resuming their northward migration.
The Platte River is home to the largest crane roost in the world! During the month of March, over 1 million cranes visit this stretch of the Platte River. They come as they have for thousands of years to this stretch of the Platte River—over one million—to rest, feed and congregate in astonishing numbers before pushing on to their breeding grounds in the north.
During this webinar we will discuss how to photograph this natural wonder.
Winter in Yellowstone is the ultimate wildlife photography destination on the North American continent. This snow capped Serengeti is unrivaled by any other place in the hemisphere.
