Girls Who Click Annual Teen Conservation Workshop
In our seventh year, the Girls Who Click teen conservation photography workshop continued to demonstrate its impact by providing young women with the skills and opportunities to document wildlife and conservation efforts. The program successfully combined hands-on field experience with expert instruction, empowering participants to develop their photography talents while deepening their understanding of environmental issues. This year’s workshop maintained a strong commitment to fostering creativity and conservation awareness, resulting in a diverse portfolio of compelling images that highlight the importance of protecting natural habitats.
Again this year, we partnered with BE Wise, a STEM organization that not only helped provide the 18 girls in attendance but also contributed their Scientist Engagement Manager, Andrea Decker, to assist during the workshop. We were further blessed by the presence of an additional assistant, Faith Barton, a former workshop attendee and current ambassador for Girls Who Click. It is truly inspiring to witness the continued passion and dedication from the girls as they pursue their photography journeys beyond the workshop.
The girls learned valuable skills in photography and conservation, gaining an understanding of how to use their images to tell compelling stories that inspire action and awareness. Through this experience, they developed the ability to capture the essence of wildlife and environmental issues, turning their photographs into powerful tools for advocacy. They also had the opportunity to walk away with stunning images of California Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Ground Squirrels, and various bird species, enriching their portfolios while deepening their connection to the natural world.
