A Year in review with Experience Wildlife
Experience Wildlife 2025 Recap
It has indeed been an exhilarating and productive year for Experience Wildlife. Our adventures took us across the nation and beyond, immersing ourselves in nature's splendor while sharing our passion for wildlife photography with a diverse audience. Here's a look back at our remarkable year.
Extensive Travels Across the Americas
This year, Experience Wildlife embarked on 26 fascinating trips, exploring the diverse landscapes and ecosystems across the United States. Our journey spanned from the Pacific Northwest in Washington State, through the lush terrains of Florida, the coastal landscapes of the New Jersey shore, the arid beauty of Arizona, and the vibrant biodiversity of Minnesota, in search of owls and the Texas Gulf for one of the rarest birds in the world, the whooping crane.
A significant highlight was our seven-week spring immersion in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and one more week in the fall, where we captured the majestic beauty of this iconic region. Our journey through the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem was nothing short of transformative. This experience allowed us to delve deeply into the awe-inspiring landscapes and diverse wildlife that define this iconic region.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear why Yellowstone is considered one of the crown jewels of America's natural heritage. The park's expansive vistas, with their undulating mountains and sprawling forests, provided a breathtaking backdrop to our daily explorations. Each sunrise painted the sky in hues of amber and rose, while twilight brought a serene stillness, broken only by the distant call of a wolf or the rustle of leaves in the evening breeze.
These eight weeks in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem was a journey of discovery and wonder. It deepened our appreciation for the majesty of nature and underscored the need for ongoing conservation efforts. As we departed, we carried with us not only stunning photographs and memories but also a renewed commitment to advocating for the protection of this and other treasured landscapes around the globe.
International Adventures: Cuba and the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest
Our adventures didn’t stop there; they expanded beyond borders, taking us to the unique and captivating landscapes of Cuba and the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. Each destination offered a tapestry of rich wildlife and vibrant cultures, leaving us with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation for the world's natural and cultural diversity.
Birding in Cuba
Cuba proved to be a paradise for bird enthusiasts, offering a captivating array of avian life that fascinated us each day. The island's isolation has led to the evolution of many endemic bird species, making it a unique destination for birdwatching.
Endemic Bird Species
One of the most delightful species we encountered was the Cuban Tody, a diminutive bird with vibrant plumage. Its bright green body contrasted beautifully with its red throat and blue crown, making it a striking sight as it flitted among the lush foliage. Our excitement soared when we spotted the elusive Bee Hummingbird, renowned as the smallest bird in the world. This tiny marvel, scarcely larger than a bee, dazzled us with its iridescent feathers and rapid wing beats.
Every day brought new discoveries, as we ventured into various habitats across the island. From coastal mangroves to mountain forests, each environment hosted its own array of bird species. We were constantly in awe of the diversity and beauty of the birds we saw, many of which were new to us.
Cuba's birding opportunities were unmatched, providing not only a visual feast but also a deeper appreciation for the island's natural wonders. The experience was a testament to the rich biodiversity that thrives in this Caribbean jewel, and it further fueled our passion for birdwatching.
Discovering Cuba's Vibrant Culture
Havana's Enchanting Streets
Cuba welcomed us with open arms and a rhythm all its own. Our journey ended in the colorful streets of Havana, where vintage cars cruised by pastel-colored buildings, and the sound of salsa music filled the air. We wandered through the historic district of Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, marveling at its colonial architecture and cobblestone streets.
Exploring the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest
Into the Heart of the Jungle
Our next stop was the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest, a place teeming with life and mystery. The journey into the heart of the jungle was an adventure in itself, as we traveled by boat along the mighty Amazon River. The dense canopy above us was alive with the sounds of exotic birds and the rustle of leaves as playful monkeys swung from branch to branch.
Encounter with Wildlife
The rainforest offered unparalleled opportunities to witness wildlife in its natural habitat. We encountered vibrant macaws, elusive jaguars, and curious capybaras. Guided by local experts, we learned about the delicate ecosystems that sustain this diverse range of species, and the importance of conservation efforts to protect such a vital part of our planet.
Cultural Connections
In our explorations, we also had the privilege of visiting indigenous communities who shared their traditional knowledge and customs with us. Their connection to the land and sustainable way of living provided valuable insights and a profound respect for the wisdom passed down through generations.
Educational Endeavors and Community Engagement
Our passion for photography transcended personal exploration and transformed into a collective journey with photographers from around the world. By participating in various educational and community initiatives, we have been able to share our expertise and connect with a diverse audience, all while promoting the art and significance of photography.

Philanthropy and Conservation Efforts
Photography as a Catalyst for Change
In the past year, we have embraced the power of photography as a tool for making a positive impact. Our passion for both art and nature has inspired us to take an active role in conservation efforts, focusing particularly on the protection and preservation of one of the world's most majestic creatures: the cheetah.
Calendar Fundraiser for the Cheetah Conservation Fund
A cornerstone of our philanthropic endeavors was the organization of a Calendar Fundraiser dedicated to supporting the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF). This initiative was not only an opportunity to showcase stunning wildlife photography but also a means to engage the community in a cause that is both urgent and essential.
Raising Awareness
Through this fundraiser, we aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by cheetahs in the wild. Cheetahs, known for their incredible speed and grace, are increasingly threatened by habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and illegal wildlife trade. By highlighting these issues in our calendar, we sought to educate the public and inspire action.
Generating Funds
In addition to spreading awareness, the calendar sales generated crucial funding for the CCF. These funds support a range of initiatives, including habitat restoration, anti-poaching efforts, and community outreach programs. By purchasing the calendar, supporters directly contributed to these vital conservation activities, helping to ensure a future where cheetahs can thrive.
Art Driving Change
This initiative highlights our commitment to conservation and underscores the transformative power of art. Photography has the unique ability to capture the beauty and vulnerability of wildlife, evoking empathy and inspiring people to take action. By using our artistic talents for a greater good, we demonstrate how creativity can be a powerful force for change.
Commitment to a Sustainable Future
We are proud of the impact we have made through our Calendar Fundraiser and remain dedicated to continuing our philanthropic and conservation efforts. Our journey has shown us that every individual can play a role in protecting the natural world, and we are committed to finding innovative ways to use art to drive meaningful change in the years to come.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Conservation Photographers
Our commitment to conservation extends beyond immediate efforts to protect wildlife; we believe in fostering the talents of future generations who will continue this vital work. To this end, we partnered with Girls Who Click, a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging teen girls to explore careers in conservation photography.
Empowering Young Women
This collaboration focuses on empowering young women by providing them with the skills and confidence needed to pursue their passion for conservation through photography.
